Akaroa and Banks Peninsula land settlement official letters
Two letters concerning Akaroa and Banks Peninsula land settlements.
The 1842 letter, in French, records the transfer of land in Akaroa from La Compagnie Nanto-Bordelaise to Joseph Libeau. Dated 4th October, it is signed by Libeau and by Pierre Joseph Sainte Croix Crocquer de Belligny, for the Compagnie.
The 1853 letter, dated December 15th, is an agreement on land claims in Banks Peninsula, written at the Land Office in Christchurch and signed by George Hempelman.
Alan R. Dawber papers
The papers of Alan R Dawber include the taped reminiscences of Roy Dawber, Alan's father. Also includes a copy of The South Westland cattle track by Alan Dawber with the negatives of the illustrations used to produce the book.
Roy Dawber's reminiscences were made on tape and published by Alan Dawber in book form in 1990, under the title Floods, slips and washouts.

Subjects include agricultural shows, bridges, botanic gardens, department stores, hotels, parades, pageants, parks, memorials, P-class yacht racing, shops, railways, a royal visit and shipping.
Aldred family papers
The papers of the Aldred family include correspondence, photographs, postcards, press clippings and posters. The majority of this collection are letters, with two written in Māori. Most of the letters are by Arthur Aldred, writing from Tonga to his wife in New Zealand during the course of the First World War.

Alexander Shepherd scrapbooks
The scrapbooks of Alexander Shepherd include newspaper clippings and some programmes. The clippings are mostly about Burwood, New Brighton, Woolston, early and more recent Christchurch.
These scrapbooks were compiled in part by Mr. Shepherd's daughter, Mrs. W.D. Kerr, of New Brighton.
Alexander William Bickerton papers
The papers of Alexander William Bickerton includes booklets written by Professor Bickerton, chiefly on astronomy, 1879-1923. Also correspondence, bibliographies and other papers (1960-1961) gathered by Mr. R.N. O'Reilly, Chief Librarian of Canterbury Public Library, for a planned bibliography of Bickerton's works. Included are two copies of Johannes Andersen's Bickerton bibliography (ca. 1930).
